A chance meeting in 2006 at London Portobello Market sealed the destiny of Anami and Janine. A brand was born out of a mutual love of vintage fashion that transcended time. Small capsule collections twice a year with conversation starting prints, combined with feminine vintage inspired silhouettes created a small cult following waiting each season for the new drop. Anami and Janine decided to go their separate ways after 10 years together to pursue other avenues. In 2023 they decided to reunite and make more magical dresses and as fate would have it Tonia, one of their loyal followers approached them to collaborate. Tonia brings a new energy into their union with refreshing candour and reverence.
When deciding on a name for the brand, Temple of Rhapso was a perfect fit, embracing Tonia’s Greek heritage and Anami and Janine’s love of folkloric whimsical print, The Goddess of Rhapso derives from the Greek word to stitch or sew.
Temple of Rhapso design limited edition hand drawn prints that tell a story and make the wearer feel enveloped in the mystique.
For their debut collection they have revisited an old favourite print of Tonia’s and given it a fresh makeover. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Janine Buntman and Anami Finnie met on Portobello road selling their dresses in 2006 they created Anami & Janine, a blend of bohemian and vintage with hand drawn prints and beautiful dresses of which Tonia was drawn to ,their creations are stand out dresses that flattered a woman’s silhouette and someone could wear to a cocktail party and dance the night away or to stroll to Holland Park and have tea! She always loved Anami & Janine dresses, so much she had about 30 of them. The brand stopped making clothes 8 years ago. Tonia was always being asked where she got her dresses from when she wore them. So she decided to call Janine up and ask to buy the pattern to her scallop dress, design her own fabrics & start making the dresses.
When she called Janine, she was told that Anami & her had been talking about starting up again, well when the planets collide in this way, magic is made, the girls decided to work together & Temple of Rhapso was born, Rhapso is the Greek Goddess of Sewing. The girls decided that each of their designs would have magic woven in.
